[Tripartite life of Saint Patrick] ‘And he (Saint Patrick) Baptised Saint Maneus, whom Bishop Bronus (72) the son of Ignis, ordained, who is ...in Caissel-Irra, the Servant of God, and Disciple of Saint Patrick’ (62) Doon Patrick, Dunan Patraic, is a small round island in Dorrin’s Strand a short distance to the east of Coney Island, which tradition says, was built by Saint Patrick when he resided in Coney Island... Inis Maol Chluiche, in order to have an egress from the island and an access to it with safety at all times (63) Saint Patrick, whilst residing there, received some offence from the Maolcluiche, after whom the Island was named, in retaliation for which the saint cursed him and his posterity. In consequence thereof, the people say, his descendents are so few and so scattered over the land, that four of the name are never met with at a funeral.
