the black grave, monument
< dubh + leachtNí léir an dtagraíonn 1518/19 ‘Kylmorgh (alias calyd Dovlyght)’ Kildare Rental don bhaile fearainn seo idir chamáin. Tá sé soiléir as an leagan iomlán de Inq. Lag. 6 Jac. I atá i gcló ag Fitzgerald in JKAS IV 188 go raibh an logainm stairiúil ‘Kilemoragh’ suite taobh thuaidh de bf Baile Uí Chearúill agus bf Doire na Fuinseann, timpeall le bf Coill an Mhuilinn (#28502) inniu. Ní heol dúinn aon tagairt eile don alias seo ‘Dovlyght’ ar an ‘Kilemoragh’ sin.
Ach bíodh sin mar atá, is ait go réiteodh a leithéid de litriú go foirfe le 1575 ‘Dowlaght’, 1659 ‘Dulaght’, 1660c ‘Doolaght’ agus 1695 ‘Lagh … Dowlaght … Killbride’, samplaí a thagraíonn don bhaile fearainn seo go cinnte. Bréagnaíonn siad féin moladh an Donnabhánaigh 1838 ‘Dubhloch’ < dubh + loch sa chás seo. Ait go leor, is cosúil nach loch “lake” atá sa logainm bf Lough (#28291) laisteas ach an oiread.
