    the house of An Inis (the river-island)

    Ba é Uí Riagáin (“descendants of Riagán (ainm pearsanta)”) seanainm na dúiche seo, as an treabhchas a bhí i réimeas anseo tráth. Dúiche Ó Riagáin “the district of Uí Riagáin” a bhí air ní ba dhéanaí (e.g. 1593 ‘Dowhie o Regaine’ LS Uí Dhuinn 49), agus de réir an Donnabhánaigh ba é Dooregan an t-ainm coitianta a bhí ag muintir na háite ar an mbarúntacht sa 19ú haois (LSO II 123). Ag seo Ó hUidhrín:

    Ar Uíbh Riagáin na ruag ttrom
    gasraidh mhear mhuidheas comhlonn;
    Ó Duinn, taoiseach na toghla,
    cuing na ccraoiseach ccathordha.

    Ó Duinn (ainmnithe as Donn, garmhac an Riagáin thuas de réir na nginealach) an príomhtheaghlach Gaelach sa cheantar. Príomhfhoinse ríthábhachtach le haghaidh logainmneacha thuaisceart Chontae Laoise is ea na cáipéisí de chuid an teaghlaigh seo a thagann anuas chugainn i lámhscríbhinn i Leabharlann Marsh Z.4.2.19. Tá siad curtha in eagar ag Nicholls in The O Doyne (Ó Duinn) Manuscript [LS Uí Dhuinn anseo].

    Cuid den tseandúiche Uí Fhailí (Uí Fhailghe) ab ea an dá bharúntacht thuaidh seo Tigh na hInse (.i. Uí Riagáin) agus Port na hInse (#130) (ar chuid é de Chlann Mhaoilíora (#1403509)).

    Féach bf Tigh na hInse (#28682), bar Port na hInse (#130).
