    Is díol spéise an nóta san Ainmleabhar 'cushog is called windlestraw in the N. of Ireland'. Focal a fhaightear san Albanais a chiallaíonn “A tall, thin, withered stalk of grass” (windlestrae, Scottish National Dictionary) is ea windlestraw. Mínítear cuiseog mar “slender stem, stalk; grass-, reed-, stalk” in FGB agus tá tagairt do 'Cuiseog – a stem of grass' in ábhar ó Bhaile Suingean i mBailiúchán na Scol (1106, 3).     The note 'cushog is called windlestraw in the N. of Ireland' in the Ordnance Survey Parish Namebooks is of interest. Windlestraw is a word found in the Scots language meaning “A tall, thin, withered stalk of grass” (windlestrae, Scottish National Dictionary). Cuiseog is given as “slender stem, stalk; grass-, reed-, stalk” in FGB and there is a reference to “Cuiseog – a stem of grass” in material from Saint Johnstown in the Schools Folklore Collection (1106, 3).
