Explanatory note
- Gaeilge
Is aistriúchán í an fhoirm Ghaeilge a bhaineann úsáid as leagan gaelaithe den sloinne Stewart.
Cf., b’fhéidir, bf Tigh an Mhaoir (#27964) taobh theas de bhaile Dharú, ina bhfuil an t-ainmfhocal comónta maor “steward”. Bhí daoine den sloinne Stewart ina gcónaí i gContae Laoise de réir Griffith’s Valuation.
Ainmneacha stairiúla:
Cnoc an Iúir “the hill of the yew-tree” an t-ainm atá le tuiscint as na hiontrálacha 1655–1685, ach is cosúil nach don bhaile fearainn seo a thagraíonn sé sin ach don chnoc (90m) in bf An Dún Mór laisteas (#27935).
