Explanatory note
- Gaeilge
Is aistriúchán í an fhoirm Ghaeilge.
Féach Ó Corragáin ‘the rental books in the Estate Office, Durrow show that as far back as 1770, the townland containing the monastery [in Course Wood] was known as the ‘Course Wood’ and … it lay along another townland, then called the ‘Race Course’, and now known as the Course’ (History and Antiquities of the Diocese of Ossory II 223). Ní léir cad dó a sheasann an dara heilimint san ainm stairiúil 1460–78 ‘Glan telwe’ a bhí sa cheantar céanna (ibid. II 218–219).
