Explanatory note
- Gaeilge
wood, wooded height of (the) oak
‘Talamh ard (coillteach), coill, ceann tíre’ an réimse bríonna atá leis an bhfocal ros. Dhealródh sé gur minicí an bhrí ‘talamh ard (coillteach)’ leis sa taobh seo tíre; féach go bhfuil an talamh anseo ábhar níos airde ná an talamh máguaird. Cf. bf An Ros (#27887).
Tá fothracha eaglasta anseo (féach Fardal Seandálaíochta, www.archaeology.ie). Más ainm cruinn é ‘Kyleaderry, the Church of the Oak Grove’ a bhí ag an gCorragánach (History and Antiquities of the Diocese of Ossory II 281), is dócha gur Cill an Doire a bhí air.
