"Pinkman: Achadh-Aill-bhreac = Field of the mottled precipice or cliff. O’Donovan quotes the authority of an intelligent local Irish speaker for this Irish form, and he states that the name was pronounced in 1836 Aghillebrack. The physical features of the place correspond exactly with this interpretation. A Royal Commission Report on Co. Leitrim of 1821-1825 writes the name ‘Aghelbracke’. "
