"Pinkman: Sligeánach = Shelly or slaty land. Slige, diminutie sligeán, a shell, a thin slaty tone; Sligeánach, a place ‘full of’ those shells or slaty stones. Compare Sligeach, Sligo, shells or shell-mound. This word slige was, also, used to denote the iron grisset on three legs, used to melt tallow or grease in making rushlights. The grease or tallow was heated or melted in this cresset or grisset and the peeled rushes soaked in the hot grease "
