"Pinkman: Bárr-farraigh. The top of Farrow, Farrach means a meeting place, a house of assembly. See Forrach O’Donovan, Supplement O’Reilly. In the Tripartite Life of St. Patrick it is stated that during the Saint’s journey through Connaught he paid a visit to the assembly place of the tribe of Amhalgaidh, and preached to a vast concourse of people, and converted and baptized the seven sons of Amhalaidh and several thousand people. The place was called Forrach-Mac-nAmhalgaidh – that is, the meeting place of the clan or tribe of Mac Auley. Farrow Barr was a meeting place of some kind "
