"Pinkman: Druim-uchta = Ridge of the breast. Ucht, the breast or bosom, is often applied to a hill breast or a mountain breast. Here it is on one hill ridge on the side of another. Compare Drumanaught, Druim-an-uchta, in Co. Donegal (Joyce). There are Druim-uchta-beag… and Druim-uchta-mór…. They lie a short distance east of the road from Mohill to Kesh, and in Mohill Parish. In this townland there was a holy well called Tobar Mhuire, St. Mary’s Well; and another called Tobar Padraig, St. Patrick’s Well. Beside this latter well was a standing stone and inscribed on it the following “Pray for Mark Meuly (or Mealy) by whom this cross was erected in honour of St. Patrick AD 1775.” Previous to the year 1800 ‘Stations’ were performed around this Cross and Well, but owing ‘to certain irregularities’ they were stopped by ecclesiastical authority and were never revived. (O’Donovan)."
