Explanatory note
- Gaeilge
pasture of —
Ní léir brí Páistín san ainm seo — ainm pearsanta, b'fhéidir? Nó d'fhéadfadh sé go dtagraíonn sé do bhunainm an tsrutháin ar an teorainn thuaidh (‘Sruhauncloonbredia' ar an léarscáil < 'Cloonbredia' ar an mbruach thuaidh de) a théann isteach sa Daoil tamaillín siar ón mbaile fearainn; cf. an sruthán darb ainm An Páistín/Pausdeen a ritheann isteach sa Life i bpar. Dhomhnach Compair, Co. Chill Dara - English
pasture of —
The meaning of Páistín is unclear here — perhaps it is a personal name. Or it may refer to the original name of the stream on the northern boundary (‘Sruhauncloonbredia' on the map < 'Cloonbredia', an area on its northern bank) which flows into An Daoil/River Deele just to the west of the townland; cf. the stream named An Páistín/Pausdeen which flows into An Life/River Liffey in the parish of Donaghcumper in Co. Kildare
