Even though Magdalen’s Terrace could be translated with Ardán Mhaigdiléana (see Ardán Mhaigdiléana/Magdalene Terrace in Galway; logainm.ie #1384749), Ardán Mhaidilín is recommended as the Irish form of Magdalen’s Terrace here, which is situated in Baile Mhaidilín/Maudlintown. The name Magdalene is attested in Irish as Maigdiléan (see corpas.ria.ie). However, Maidilín is an alternative Irish version of the name Magdalene/Maudlin (see: logainm.ie #1413991), and that is the version of the name already found in Baile Mhaidilín/Maudlintown, the name of a civil parish and townland in Wexford Town. It is interesting to note that there is a large rock called The Maiden Tower in the area also, and that name too is derived from Magdalene. (CÓC)
