Explanatory note
- Gaeilge
Is aistriúchán lom ar an ainm Béarla í an fhoirm Ghaeilge de Stonewell, i.e. Tobar na gCloch. Tá sé tábhachtach a lua, áfach, gur cosúil gur glacadh leis an ainm Stonewell féin ar an míthuiscint gurb é Tobar na gCloch atá taobh thiar d’ainm an bhaile fearainn Tobermaclugg, rud nach bhfuil ceart. Is é Tobar na gClog an t-ainm oifigiúil agus dlíthiúil Gaeilge don bhaile fearainn sin, mar a shainítear san ordú logainmneacha ó 2011 (féach An t-Ordú Logainmneacha (Contae Bhaile Átha Cliath) 2011. Pléitear an fhianaise stariúil don logainm sin ag logainm.ie #17135.
- English
The Irish form of Stonewell, i.e. Tobar na gCloch is a direct translation of the English name. However, it is important to note that the name Stonewell itself was apparently adopted due to the misunderstanding that the townland name Tobermaclugg is from Tobar na gCloch, which is incorrect. The official Irish version of the townland name Tobermaclugg was established as Tobar na gClog in the Placenames (County Dublin) Order 2011; for a discussion of the historical evidence see the note at logainm.ie #17135.
