In Osraí bhí claonadh -amh(a)- a dhruidim le /uː/ (/ũː/) de bharr srónaíl an -mh- caillte. Mar shampla, faightear samhradh > /suːrə/ agus ‘Súra’ in idir thuaisceart agus dheisceart Cho. Chill Chainnigh (féach LASID II, Éigse XXVI, Labhrann Laighnigh) agus cf. an nóta ‘Lamh[r]-’ would be pronounced /luːr-/, or with /ũː/, locally’ (Breathnach, ‘Carraig Seac’ in Éigse I). Tabhair faoi deara nóta an Donnabhánaigh 1838 ‘liúch/leamhach … ‘Rath-na-lieugh’ is the best spelling to represent this sound’ .i. an fhuaim seo i ndiaidh l-caol.
