Explanatory note
- Gaeilge
the white town
Faoi mar a luann Ó Donnabháin (1838), b’fhéidir nár cheart Baile Uí Fhinn “the town of Ó Finn (sloinne)” a chur as an áireamh ar fad — tá seisear den sloinne Finn luaite le paróiste Chluain Eidhneach in Griffith’s Valuation. Cf. ‘Mc Fyinn’ agus ‘Fyinn’ i measc phríomhshloinnte bharúntacht Osraí agus bharúntacht Phort Laoise in Census 1659 (lgh. 495, 498) (murar cheart Mc Fynin a léamh).
