Explanatory note

the hill of the odd stepping-stones?
Tabhair faoi deara Stepping Stones SO trasna an tsrutháin ar theorainn thuaidh an bhaile fearainn. Measaimid gur bréagaistriúchán é Red Hill SO ar na foirmeacha déanacha truaillithe ar nós 1622 ‘Knockarologhan’, ‘Knockarolaghan’. Is féidir a thuairimiú go ndearnadh tuilleadh laghdaithe ar an ainm béarlaithe san 18ú haois ó ‘Knockarolaghan’ go dtí * Knockroe. Féach ainm an bhaile fearainn bf Ceapach an Iarainn (#28546).
Cf. bf Ceapach Locháin (#28343) sa Chaisleán Breac.
