Déanann ainm Béarla na háite, c. 1660 ‘Castlecuffe’, tagairt do Dorothea Cuffe, máthair an Charles Coote a bhí i seilbh na háite seo sa 17ú haois. Tá cur síos san Fhardal Seandálaíochta (www.archaeology.ie) ar an gcaisleán in íochtar an bhaile fearainn.
