"Pinkman: Cor-ghar = Short or small round hill. …. Strangely enough on this name in Mohill Parish O’Donovan writes “Cor-gar is the local name. Cor is a pit, or a round hill, and gar is mould, bog stuff.” Though I cannot unearth the word, gar, with this meaning in Dinneen, I find that O’Donovan gives it in the supplement to O’Reilly’s Dictionary, and O’Donovan uses it again in interpreting another name, Killygar, in this County. There is a narrow belt of bog in this townland but there is, too, a rather small-sized round hill."
