- Gaeilge
Is léir gurbh é Scríobóg (‘the boundary land’) an t-ainm a bhí ar an bhaile fearainn seo go stairiúil, féach:
1552 Scriboke, 1624 Scribocke, 1654 Screiboy, Scriboy, 1666c Skriboge, 1719 Skribough
Léiríonn an fhoirm Pairc bhuidhe a bhailíodh in 1836 ó chainteoir Gaeilge sa cheantar, go raibh ainm nua ar an bhaile fearainn fá aimsir na Suirbhéireachta Ordanáis, agus ní aistriúchán díreach de Yellow Walls a bhí ann ach oiread, cé gur léir go raibh nasc éigin eadarthu. - English
It is clear that Scríobóg (‘the boundary land’) was the historical name of this townland, see:
1552 Scriboke, 1624 Scribocke, 1654 Screiboy, Scriboy, 1666c Skriboge, 1719 Skribough
The form Pairc bhuidhe collected in 1836 from an Irish speaker in the area, indicates that the townland had a new name at the time of the Ordnance Survey, and it was not a direct translation of Yellow Walls either, although there was clearly some connection between them.
