"Pinkman: Carraig-a’-tsídheain = Rock of the fox-glove or fairy-finger As far as the English name goes, this maybe either Carraig-a’-tsídheain, or Carraig-a’-tsídheáin, rock of the little hill – síhdheán, in the second case, being a diminutive of sídh a hill, a fairy hill. O’Donovan glosses the name with the Latin ‘rupes digitalis’ and I suspect he was merely registering the local interpretation of his day. Sian or sídhean was the name given to the fairy plant, that, in days gone by, was much used by those, who sought the aid of the fairies in the cure of diseases, and other forms of superstition. "
